On Saturday we catered for a 70th birthday party at Hedley Hill. The venue was at the son and daughter-in-law’s home – a stunning converted old school house on a hillside deep in the country. The location was stunning even in the dark. We set up in the gazebo on decking outside and needed all the weights & pegs etc as it was VERY blustery & exposed. We were very cosy inside though with the pig roasting away in the oven & the lights on. The owner had also lit chimeneas and a bonfire outside to help keep the guests warm as they were served their food. The menu was half a hog (as it was a small group of 35) with all the trimmings, plus parsley buttered new potatoes and salads. As ever, our hot chilli sauce & English mustard on the side also went down well. Although it’s a long drive back from hog roast Hedley Hill it wasn’t too late as we left, with everyone enjoying the blazing real fire indoors, with plates of hog roast Hedley Hill buns we were made up from the leftovers for them to pick on into the night.
