This Saturday we coincidentally had two Hog Roasts in Tynemouth – totally unconnected, at the same time, & within 2 minutes walking distance of each other!
Tynemouth is a gorgeous little town on the coast – our jobs were a wedding reception at the fantastic Priory Castle right up on the cliff-top, & literally next door a 10th Wedding anniversary party down on the beach at Tynemouth sailing club. Both locations are absolutely stunning and in lovely sunshine – but completely exposed in the most horrendous gale-force wind.
Lois & team at the wedding were almost blown off the cliff along with their gazebo!! So we served the 200 guests our fabulous Traditional Hog Roast inside the wedding marquee. Mandy, Scott & Tom’s customer had planned for the band & ourselves to set up on the flat rooftop at the sailing club but in the conditions there was no chance of that & everything was brought inside. We served Gourmet Hog Roast – whole slow-roasted hog with all the trimmings plus potatoes & salads, plus the crackling was amazing & plenty of it. The guests demolished the lot, many enjoying seconds & thirds.
Just before we served, the wind dropped and a clear whole rainbow came out right across the mouth of the bay, such an amazing sight that lots of guests ran outside to take photos.
Despite terrible weather we had a great day serving over 400 people in Tynemouth & definitely hope to be back there in the future! Another successful weekend from Spitting Pig North East.
