Ahoy, mateys! The North East of England is a treasure trove of maritime history, and its role as a bustling trading gateway continues to connect the UK to the farthest corners of the globe. With thousands of jobs and a vibrant culture anchored in this industry, World Maritime Day is the perfect excuse for an epic celebration across the region. And this year, Hog Roast Middlesbrough was absolutely thrilled to join in on the festivities!
On September 26th, we packed our trusty catering van with all the goodies you can imagine and set sail (well, drove) to the coast for a community bash that celebrated the North East’s rich maritime legacy.
As we set up our stall and began roasting the pork over a low flame, it quickly became clear that Hog Roast Middlesbrough’s hog roast was going to be a star attraction at this event; promising to warm the hearts and bellies of guests who braved the chilly coastal winds.
Our piping hot pulled pork, cradled in fluffy baps and accompanied by sage and onion stuffing, crackling, and a dollop of applesauce, had everyone satisfied and smiling. The combination was nothing short of heavenly! We didn’t forget about our veggie and vegan pals, either. Our BBQ-pulled jackfruit buns with plant-based ‘slaw were a hit, ensuring everyone could indulge in the deliciousness we had to offer.
As Hog Roast Middlesbrough worked tirelessly to feed the hungry masses, the buzz of the event swirled around us. There were exhilarating yacht races keeping spectators on their toes and charity raffles raising funds for maritime safety, conservation, and education. It was heartwarming to see so many people come together for such an important cause!
The day was filled with eye-catching displays showcasing the maritime industry’s evolution, allowing attendees to take a fascinating journey through time. And for the younger crowd? Games, activities, and fairground rides galore! Laughter echoed through the air as families created memories that would last a lifetime.
For us at Hog Roast Middlesbrough, being part of World Maritime Day was about more than just serving up delicious food; it was a chance to celebrate and support the maritime industry that has shaped our region for generations. Watching everyone enjoy our offerings amidst the festivities filled us with pride and joy.
