Not everyone finds a second family at work, but the lucky ones who do know it makes the daily grind a whole lot easier. It also makes leaving a whole lot harder too. Just ask the team over at Connor Solutions, who recently waved off their Group Finance Director and Company Secretary, Phil.
After 25 years with the company (yes, a quarter of a century!), Phil decided the time had come to move on. His colleagues had other ideas about him slipping out quietly, though. They got straight to work on a proper send-off and invited everyone on site to join in. With 170 guests expected at the lunchtime do, they knew they’d need a serious amount of food to keep the whole crowd happy. Luckily, they already knew exactly where to turn. Connor Solutions have trusted Hog Roast Tyne and Wear with their corporate events before, so they knew they could count on us to put on a high quality spread for the occasion.
With a focus on keeping everyone happy by ensuring every dietary requirement and taste was met, the client requested our Gourmet BBQ Menu on this occasion, which proved an instant hit with the guests. People were all over our handmade beef burgers, which they enjoyed plain or topped with melting cheese and fried onions for a bit of extra flavour. The Thai chicken kebabs went down a storm too, adding a bit of heat to people’s plates, while the pulled pork was so juicy and tender that guests kept racing back for more.
Of course, it wasn’t only about the meat-lovers. Veggies and vegans had meat-free burgers and grilled veggie kebabs to get stuck into, and trust us when we say they were every bit as tasty as the rest of the spread. Meanwhile, an inclusive selection of pasta salad, coleslaw and a mix of sweet potato and classic fries rounded things off, giving everyone something to pile onto their plates.
Phil was blown away by the effort his colleagues had gone to. It’s not every day you get sent off in style after 25 years, and he most definitely made the most of it, laughing and celebrating with everyone until the very end. Honestly, you couldn’t ask for a better way to close a career chapter.
As for Hog Roast Tyne and Wear? Well, it’s safe to say we absolutely loved working with the Connor Solutions team again, and we’re so grateful they asked us to be part of such a big day.
