On Saturday Paul, Steven and Emma were at one of our favourite venues, Crook Hall in Durham. The occasion was a wedding with the theme of Hearts and Spades, and we provided a medieval hog roast Durham feast for the reception in the venue’s stunning medieval hall. The bride and groom had put in a lot of detailed work into the day, and we planned the feast menu aiming for authenticity and opulence.
We laid out on metal platters & wooden boards:
- Whole roasted hog (with head on & apple in)
- Slow-roasted beef and rich gravy
- Piles of roasted chickens
- Half whole cheeses, & walnuts
- Meat Terrine
- Roasted & pickled vegetables
- Loaves of crusty rustic breads for tearing
- Platters of fruit
The guests helped themselves from the feast table, tearing and sharing, and were seated around the feast table and in the gallery above. The groom provided background music of themes from Lord of The Rings, The Hobbit, Game of Thrones etc and the room was candle lit – which all gave real atmosphere to the whole occasion. It was great for us to plan something unusual and creative and we were really pleased with the results of our effort for the hog roast in Durham. We’re very glad to have great feedback from the happy couple also. All round a great experience for us.
