May the 4th, otherwise known as International Star Wars Day, is an important date for fans of the popular sci-fi franchise, which has been a huge pop culture phenomenon for a whopping 45 years in the making!
With a fan base that spans the entire globe and a steady stream of content that is released regularly, this increasingly prevalent space opera has proved over and over again that it’s here for the long haul. And celebrating the longevity of the franchise and the impact that it continues to have, fans worldwide find new ways to spend the 4th of May each year.
This year, Hog Roast Cramlington received an invite to one of these commemorative events, which saw over 300 Star Warriors or ‘Fusions’ of all ages come together to share their love of the sci-fi franchise. The event we attended had been organised by hardcore fan, Alan, who has been following the series since its inception.
With the aim of giving his fellow Star Wars fans an unforgettable day, Alan had put together a celebration, which centred entirely around the series. Going the whole hog, he had decorated the rented venue to look like the inside of a spaceship, and had organised lots of entertainment to keep everyone amused, such as a trivia competition, lightsaber battles and reenactments and more! Alan had secured plenty of Stormtrooper ale for the adults as well, and vendors selling Star Wars apparel and handmade items were also welcome to attend and guests were encouraged to dress up as their favourite character and take part in the costume contest at the end of the night.
All that action was hungry work for those who attended, so it was a good thing that Hog Roast Cramlington was on hand to serve a scrumptious hog roast lunch, which offered guests a taste of our signature slow-roasted pig, served on rolls with crackling, stuffing and applesauce.
Everyone was in agreement that the food Hog Roast Cramlington served was out of this galaxy, and with a meat-free option available for vegan and vegetarian guests, no one was left feeling excluded.
