The Hog Roast Whitley Bay team spent the first day of April at the iconic waterfront venue known as The Cycle Hub in Quayside, which is every bike-lover’s dream. Born from a love of cycling and great food, this prominent cafe/workshop brings together people from all different walks of life. But more than that, this cool and quirky venue, which is made all the more appealing by the gorgeous canal location, is available to hire for parties and events!
Most recently, our client, Annie, rented out the space for her husband’s 60th birthday, and weeks before the celebration went ahead, she reached out to our team here at Hog Roast Whitley Bay to ask for our help with the catering. Of course, we were ecstatic that Annie had chosen us to cater for the all-important celebration, and to ensure the customer got exactly what she wanted from the day, our catering manager, Jarrod, worked with her to find the ideal menu for the occasion.
Since she had been looking for something quite simple, but tasty enough to knock the socks off of the 70 guests who had been invited to attend, Jarrod had suggested our Classic Hog Roast Menu, which is the perfect introduction to the fine art of hog roasting. The menu offers a full-size, slow-roasted pig with traditional applesauce, sage and onion stuffing and crispy crackling, as well as gluten-free rolls and a meat-free option that is suitable for vegetarian and vegan guests.
Customising the menu to suit her specific tastes, Annie had chosen to include grilled vegetable and halloumi skewers with tzatziki dip and flatbreads for the meatless option, and for the sides, she picked green leaf salad and gourmet coleslaw from the variety of choices on offer.
Jarrod and the Hog Roast Whitley Bay team spent all afternoon preparing the feast in time for the 8:30 pm service that Annie had picked, and the guests were delighted with the results! The food, as it always is, was packed full of mouth-watering flavours, which put everyone in a great mood – especially Annie’s husband, who was totally blown away by the effort she had gone to, to make his 60th birthday a memorable event.
